I have probably done more than 200 live interview while on KEST the San Francisco Alternative Radio Station over the two years I had “Choices for a Healthier Lifestyle.” Then once my sixth book was released I started doing at least one interview a week, sometimes as many as four.

It occurred to me there were no guidelines. No one suggested using a land line or having a glass of room temperature water. So I started making a list and created a guideline anyone can follow. It will help you make sure you are covering all the details.

Here’s some helpful guidelines:
1. Send 15-18 questions to me 3-5 days prior to interview
2. Post your interview on Skype and Facebook
3. Sign up for Skype- make sure host has your Skype address
4. Keep answers to 30 seconds to 2 min max
Answer one question at a time, avoid giving multiple answers to one question
(some times it’s hard to stay on the question when you want to cover all the bases)
5. Be sure to use a land line – not VOIP as weather patterns interupt the quality of calls
6. Be sure to watch your Skype during your interview
7. Turn off all other phones
8. Turn off call waiting (*70 on AT&T)
9. Have a room temperature glass of water (with lemon is best)

New Author Dilemma

I have another new author starting this week. He write SciFi and is amazingly talented. He has eight books written, but as of yet, has not learned the business of being an author.

I have talked with a lot of authors over the years and it surprises me how many truly believe that their only job is to write the book and somehow magically, the publisher will make them rich and famous!

Mark is not in that category. He jumps right in and searches for better plugins, widgets and even alternative article submission services. He is waiting for his book cover to be redesigned, so he’s spending a great deal of time teaching himself all the tricks and discovering all the resources that are available.

In truth, it is a full time job if you wanted to try and keep up with all the newest, latest, greatest widgets and plugins. Someone is always coming up with something new.

But the fact is, I am enjoying working with Mark because he has no limits, no boundaries. He just keeps digging in until he finds what he’s looking for and then he goes to the extreme in learning how to make it apply to his site! www.Maldene.com

Flip Video

I bought the Flip Video about two years ago and I began to do facial readings (physiognomy) and post the results to my www.StreetSmartDifference.com Sales Training website. It was a lot of fun to find people, tell them about themselves and then have them tell me how much fun it was.

The fact is, adding a video every week to your site will increase your rankings drastically. Not only do people like videos but the search engines love them. So it makes sense to keep adding them as often as possible.

I use my Flip video when I’m out with friends or when I’m at events. No matter where I go I find a reason to capture the moment and use it for one of my blogs.

Each video should be no more than five minutes. You can load the video directly from your computer or you can load them to a YouTube channel and load them from there. If you use YouTube, there are three methods of uploading your video:

Some blogs will have a link back to YouTube to watch the video when you use the URL. So you’ll need to test the three methods to see which one works to play the video within your blog.

CD Creation

It is so much easier to create new material than most people think. I have created a new CD at least once a year. I pay close attention to the conversations I hear when I’m speaking and trying to ask people what their main challenges are. That is the information I use to compile the data for the new CD programs.

I will do the research, mostly through Google, but after doing this for 20 years, I can create a program with very little research. I often listen to a teleseminar and think how little information is included and the host spends the majority of their time selling a program they have. It’s understandable to a point, but when you take the time out to listen to a program, there should be more than enough content.

The first thing you can do after you pick a topic is to create at least 18 talking points. When you organize your talking points, you will be able to record your presentation, edit it and have an hour long CD afterwards.

You can go to fiverr.com and have an artist create a CD label for you and get the CD labels on ebay for $20 for 100. The best way to get the CD’s to burn if you prefer to do them yourself is when you find them on sale for $15 for 100 at the office supply stores or CostCo.

I also found a great service, CDDuplicator.com that will burn the CD’s for $1 with a 20 minimum order.

I typically put my CD’s in a case and make the covers on my color printer with the photo paper. My typical CD sells for $20 and the total costs is less than $2.
