Book distribution firms have a broad range of services and pricing. In my research I found there were few consistencies and have requested from authors to give me feed back on the services they use and why.
What I found is most authors who Independently publish find a source and stick with then despite their obvious frustrations with the distributor. At the first sign of them not paying accurately, stalling on paying you, fudging numbers, etc. cancel your agreement and find another distributor. I’m not sure why this area of publishing is so disreputable, but beware and stay on top of the situation.
